Hospice/End of life

Hospice/end of life care

Hospice and end of life care are services that I feel very strongly about being able to offer in a home setting.  There is no more important time than this to be able to provide pets with calm, stress-free and pain-free care in the place they feel most comfortable.  It can be a very challenging time for owners when pets reach this stage of life.  Pets with serious or terminal illness often require multiple medications, more intensive daily care by owners, and more frequent evaluations by their veterinarian.  I strive to partner with owners to provide their beloved pets the level of care that owners feel is appropriate.  This requires a greater level of communication and trust between myself and owners, and a shared goal to maintain quality of life without interventions that owners are not comfortable with.

When owners feel that their pet's quality of life is no longer adequate, I strive to be the trusted person your family turns to for help with this difficult decision.  I am available to discuss euthanasia and to answer any questions that family members have about this option.  A euthanasia visit is typically scheduled in advance.  During this visit, my utmost goal is to provide a calm, painless and anxiety-free experience for the pet, and as much as possible, for the family also.   Following euthanasia, some families elect to bury pets at home.  If not,  I can take pets with me to arrange for cremation services.  I partner with a local, reputable crematory for these services.  When families wish to have a pet's ashes returned to them, I will bring their beloved pet's ashes home in ten days to two weeks.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about hospice care or euthanasia for your pet.  I understand how difficult and emotionally challenging it is for you to care for your pet through this stage of life.
