Wellness/Medical Care

Wellness care, or healthy pet care, is a very important service I provide pets at home.   Puppies and kittens are in a special stage of life in which their growth and development must be monitored more frequently.  They are typically examined monthly during their first two to six months of life, in order to monitor their growth and get them off to a healthy start with vaccinations.   All adult pets benefit from a yearly examination.    I will tailor recommendations for vaccinations to prevent disease for each pet.  Preventive medications for Heartworm disease and intestinal parasites, as well as products to prevent fleas and ticks are important to discuss on a yearly basis.  Nutrition and behavior are other important topics that we will discuss during a wellness visit.  Senior pets often benefit from twice yearly examinations, in order to monitor geriatric health issues and to be proactive if problems arise.  Many older pets are struggling with mobility issues and pain.  I can provide a wide range of care for these pets at home.  Geriatric wellness exams, evaluations for arthritis pain, lumps and bumps, and senior nutrition are all important components of senior pet care.

For puppies and kittens that need spay/neuter surgery, I will work with you to refer them to an area veterinary hospital that can provide this surgery.  I also partner with area hospitals to refer pets needing other types of surgery.  For pets needing specialized care such as hospitalization for medical issues, emergency care, ultrasound and other advanced diagnostics, I have relationships with area specialists and can make the necessary referral for your pet.
